Geoffrey H. Bruce, owner of G.H. BRUCE, LLC, recently completed the installation of a Tensile Sculpture
he created in 1995. The piece, known as PARAPEND, is 19' tall and 14' in diameter, and adorns the
rotunda of a remodeled residence in Paradise Valley, Arizona. The sculpture includes fifteen, translucent,
stretch lycra fabric panels inter-connected by stainless steel cables. It is attached to five ceiling mounting
points, and is held in tension by an eighty pound, stainless steel pendulum.

When Bruce designed the sculpture, his vision was that it would best work hanging directly beneath
a skylight. "It took thirteen years and two very trusting clients to see this dream realized," Bruce said.
"They are art collectors, and visionaries themselves."
